From Silk to Wool and More

What we did in class today...

The students studied the steps in the production of silk and wool in various cities along the Silk Road. They created eight-step graphic organizers which illustrated these processes.

The students brainstormed small objects of importance to them, and used these objects as springboards to story.

I was absent from school today. I participated in a charity golf outing for New Horizons Rehabilitation Services of Michigan. My cousin is a client at New Horizons, which means he is employed by them in a sheltered work setting. I'll be back on Monday.

Contacting Mr. Joe: In addition to email, feel free to call my cell phone at 248-224-2039 if you have any questions/concerns that are of a more pressing nature. I am usually available in the evening until 9:00pm.

Wonderful Wednesday

What we did in class today...

We talked about a different way to generate narrative stories - through setting. We then wrote a new story in our writer's notebooks. These are very much unfinished drafts, and are designed to help students live as writers do, namely, to write over a sustained period of time in order to create something which may or may not be developed into a finished piece at a later time.

We finished our digital projects related to the Silk Road and presented them to the class.
