Social Studies

We applied the acronym T.A.D.D. (Thoughts, Action, Dialogue, Description) to revising our narrative writing. We learned how good narrative writing contains a balance of these four elements.



We created advertisements enticing people to come and live in Sumer.

Terrific Tuesday





What we did in class today...

We learned about how writers apply the details of their personal lives to generate stories and ideas for writing. This, essentially, is "living like a writer," one who notices the world around them and realizes that the potential for stories exists everywhere.

We began our quiz on Sumer, and listened to a presentation by Member of Congress Joe Knollenberg in the media center.

Fantastic Friday

What we did in class today...

We used writers' timelines today in language arts in order to write narratives with a high level of detail.

We shared the ways in which a variety of products use petroleum and other products that affect the environment.

Sumerian City-States






What we did in class today...


We reviewed our chapter on the Sumerians and discussed why they formed city-states.



In language arts we applied checklists to our writing to check our progress and began working on second pieces.

Politicians' Visit: Tomorrow Gary Peters will be here from 2-3pm. On Tuesday 10-7, Joe Knollenberg will be here at the same time. Both presentations will be in the media center. They are here to support our study of elections and the political process. Parents are welcome.
