Camp Forms due next Friday February 20! Please send in permission slips and health forms for camp. Parents, we need volunteers. The first two adults come free!
China book forms went home today. Students should indicate their prioritized choices for books among ChuJu's House, Dragonwings, and Red Scarf Girl. If students would like to purchase their own copy of the book (optional) they may do so. Please bring cash or checks payable to BCS in the amount of $7.00.
What we did in class today:
Language Arts:
We continued to develop a number of different thesis statements for literary analyses of short stories we've read.
Creative Communications is an optional poetry and essay contest for our kids. Extra credit will be given. I'm available to edit.
Social Studies:
We took our test on Islam and previewed our unit on ancient and modern China.
Homework
Language Arts
1. Read 20 minutes. Post your reading to the reading log on http://56reading.wikispaces.com/
2. Write for at least five minutes on your Daily Writing Blog on your Weebly site. Write your choice of genre: narrative, expository, poetry, media reviews, memoir, et. al.
3. R&E #4 - Due week of February 9. Practice your book commercial at least three times.
Social Studies
1.Current Events Week 2'ers. Post to Moodle by Wednesday February 4. Responses by February 6. Ask your student for details. The assignment is clearly explained on Moodle.
